Julia is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in and on Metromix, TimeOut Chicago, Not For Tourists, Daily Candy, Insktains, RedEye, ChicagoBoxing.com, the Golden Gloves program, "Sin: A Deadly Anthology" and other publications.
In addition to RUI, she's been a featured reader this past year at 2nd Story, The Parlor Reading Series, the Tamale Hut Reading Series, Re:Action, Kate the Great's Book Emporium, and other series and venues. She was the champion of Meredith Grahl's first Haiku-Off and a second-place winner in Paul Barile's Monodogs of War monologue competition.
Julia's a fiction writing instructor at Columbia College Chicago and has been the recipient of a Follett Fellowship, two Schultz-Shiflett Scholarship Awards, a Getz Alternate Award and a first-place prize in the Columbia University (New York) Scholastic Press Association Awards.
