Julia is a freelance writer whose fiction and non-fiction have appeared in and on Fresh Yarn, The Parlor Podcasts, "Cubbie Blues: 100 Years of Waiting till Next Year," "Sin: A Deadly Anthology," RedEye, Metromix, TimeOut Chicago, Daily Candy, Hair Trigger issues 23 and 24, ChicagoBoxing.com, the Golden Gloves program and other publications. She's also a co-founder of and co-host at Nerds at Heart.
In addition to RUI, she's also read this past year at 2nd Story, The Parlor Reading Series, Orange Alert, Mercury Cafe's R.A.W. Readings, Literary Gangs of Chicago, Windy City Story Slam and other events.
Julia's a fiction writing instructor at Columbia College Chicago and has been the recipient of a Follett Fellowship, two Schultz-Shiflett Scholarship Awards, a Getz Alternate Award and a first-place prize in the Columbia University (New York) Scholastic Press Association Awards.
